The Official OU Statement on Evolution

Read this article. I thought their stance was articulated very nicely.

You must have angered a few religious types in your time. I'm looking to get punched by a priest. Any ideas?

Yes I have angered a few, but not on purpose. I made the mistake of thinking that we had freedom of speach one time. Checkout my post...

That article was very well worded. It's long been a peeve of mine that so many confuse the meaning of the word theory when used in a scientific context. It amazes me how many people, even very well educated people, don't understand the premise of the scientific method. In an american history class i took several months ago the professor (who had a doctorate in history) said that he didn't believe in science because of all the times science had been wrong. i wanted to quote Isaac Asimove:
"When people thought the earth was flat, they were wrong. When people thought the earth was spherical, they were wrong. But if you think that thinking the earth is spherical is just as wrong as thinking the earth is flat, then your view is wronger than both of them put together."
Will people ever understand that science is a process for bringing us closer to truth, rather than a religion for dictating truth?
